11. The White Dragon Horse

This book is adapted and illustrated from the fifteenth chapter of the classical literary masterpiece 'Journey to the West.' This volume depicts the story of the son of the Dragon King of the Western Sea, Ao Lie, who violated the celestial laws and was sentenced to death. Ao Lie was saved by the intervention of Guanyin Bodhisattva and was sent to the Eagle Sorrow Gorge at Serpent Coil Mountain to await the pilgrim. Unexpectedly, when Tripitaka and Sun Wukong passed by Eagle Sorrow Gorge, their white horse was swallowed by the little white dragon. Sun Wukong's attempts to retrieve it were in vain, and he had no choice but to request Guanyin Bodhisattva to subdue the little white dragon, transforming him into the White Dragon Horse to continue the westward journey with Tripitaka and his disciples.
